Hello friends!
Well this is my first blog ever. Hmmm where to start? Let's see.... I graduated high school in May, 2006, and from there went straight to college that same month. I met the love of my life (Andrew) online (crazy, I know). We actually met on a MMORPG called World of Warcraft, haha I am a super nerd, in case you weren't already aware. So we had been talking on there for a few months, and decided we wanted to meet. Neither of us was looking for a relationship when we started talking, it just kind of happened. He came to visit me for the first time in December 2007. I fell in love <3
We have been together for about 3.5 years now. I became pregnant in November 2009 when he had come out to visit. He then moved to Arizona in April 2010. I was in nursing school at the time, and spent my entire last semester pregnant. It was very stressful, but with all the support from family and friends, I made it! I graduated from Yavapai College in May 2010 with my Associates of Applied Science-Nursing degree. I was scheduled to take my state board exam on August 4th, 2010. I had a due date of August 17th.
On my last visit to the Dr's office, I was told that my daughter was breech. I was very upset, because I knew that meant I would most likely be having a c-section, and sure enough that was the next words out of my doctor's mouth. I cried... I had never had surgery before, and I was scared. I had heard nothing but bad things about c-sections. I was scheduled for a c-section less than a week after being told I was having one. This was pretty stressful news for us, but we managed. I had seen a c-section done during nursing school, so I knew what I was in for. My doctor told me to reschedule my state exam because I was going to go into labor before then, so I did.
On August 5, 2010 I starting having contractions. We were at home getting ready to drive my brother to the doctor for an appointment he had. My contractions were about 10-12mins apart and weren't very strong. I figured it was just Braxton Hicks... So I continued on with my day and we were driving my brother to his appointment. My contractions then became 5 mins apart.... I then knew I was in labor! We were in such denial because it was Andrew's birthday!!! I thought, "There's no way this baby is going to be born on her daddy's birthday....". But to our surprise, she was!!!
She was born August 5th, 2010 at 3:35 pm by c-section. The c-section was not as bad as I had thought it would be! Andrew and I were so amazed when we first saw our daughter. Myla Donna Black-She was 19 inches long and weighed 6lbs 7 oz. Her APGAR was 9 and 9.5 (which is amazing for a c-section baby!!!).
The recovery from the c-section was not bad. I was walking about 8 hours after the surgery. The worst part of it was when they gave me Percocet... Turns out I am allergic to it. But they gave me Benadryl and everything was ok. I was doing laundry around the house only 2 weeks after surgery and getting around really well!
I took my state board exam only 3 weeks after having Myla. I found out the next day that I passed!!!! I became a registered nurse on August 26th, 2010. Being a new mom and a new nurse was sooooo exciting. Life couldn't be better.
So now Myla is almost 10 months old, and I am working at Mingus Mtn. Academy as a registered nurse. I love my job very much!! I have been very blessed <3 Andrew stays home with Myla so that we don't have to send her to daycare.... =) We are a happy family!! We are looking forward to August to celebrate Myla's first birthday and Andrew's 27th. Life is good <3
